Presentation
This workshop is organised by the Institut de Mathématiques de
Jussieu. It will take place
17 - 20 september 2008 at the new
Paris Rive Gauche site of the Université
Paris Diderot (Paris 7).
There will be two mini-courses of 3
hours each, as well as contributed talks selected by the
scientific comittee.
This international meeting aims at bringing together experts who share an interest in braid groups, and expects to raise fruitful interactions among them.

Automorphisms of free groups and train tracks
Motivated by work of Thurston about surfaces, Bestvina, Feighn, and
Handel have developed train tracks in order to study automorphisms of
free groups: the structure of an individual automorphism, as well as
the group of all automorphisms.
This mini-course will be an
introduction to the subject.

In addition to mini-courses, twenty contributed
talks have been selected by the scientific commitee. The list

The registered participants for which we have reserved a room at the
Kellerman residence may visit the CISP
webpage.
Rooms in this residence will be paid
directly by the workshop.
Participants who wish to book a hotel may visit this list of hotels .
We will not be able to reimburse hotel rooms.
Lunches
Lunches for registered participants will be offered.
Transportation costs
The workshop will not cover transportation costs to or from Paris.
